Arts for Peace
Arts for Peace Foundation with the Irish Government, United Nations and the Right to Play
Between 2004-2206 Beatrice Allegranti was consultant and artistic and therapeutic facilitator working with Palestinian and Israeli adolescents on the Irish Defence Forces headquarters. The work involved bringing the young people together in a residential setting to support a peace directive of ‘understanding, tolerance and friendship’ between young people of different cultures. Beatrice has written about the work (see publication link below). Here’s an extract:
‘…my desire was not for this to be the Israeli-Palestinian story, but one among many creative and embodied possibilities that could contribute to all individuals seeing their situation and that of others in ways that they may not have previously countenanced. As I witnessed each group’s embodied collective stories, I became acutely aware of how memory can be a process of not only individual bodily experience but also part of the broad web of connections in which the body is located.’
